Where there is hope, there is a future.
With this basic conviction COMPET MEDICAL AG supports with a wide range of user-friendly and high quality products for drug help and addiction prevention (Harm Reduction). The aim is to reduce damage to the health of drug users and to make the application as simple and safe as possible for maximum survival assistance.
Corporate mission
Our customers
Our customers are mainly outpatient drop-in and counseling centers with a low-threshold offer for addicted patients. They ensure a controlled distribution of medical consumables and thus make a decisive contribution to the health of a population group in difficult circumstances.
Motivation for our activity
WHO research has shown that needle and syringe distribution programs do not increase the amount of drug use or the number of drug users in a society. In fact, the opposite is true: drug users who participate in needle and syringe delivery programs are more likely to cut down or even quit their drug use compared to those who do not participate in such programs.

Effectiveness of Sterile Needle and Syringe Programming in Reducing HIV/ AIDS among Injecting Drug Users. Evidence for Action Technical Papers. Geneva: World Health Organization.)
With our high-quality products, we cover several objectives at once:
- Proper use of sterile needles and syringes can prevent the transmission of diseases such as HIV or hepatitis.
- Safer injections through filters! Harm during injections is limited with a unique filter technology. The filtering of dangerous additives in the injection solution reduces an additional health risk from contaminated substances (extender) as well as the transmission of diseases through contaminated blood.
Quality and safety
We succeed in our goal of providing high-quality, standardized and high-value products for injections in two ways:
- With a comprehensive range of sterile disposable needles / syringes and safe and proper use, you can avoid the transmission of diseases such as HIV or hepatitis.
- Safer injections through filters! Harm during injections is limited with a unique filter technology. Filtering dangerous
additives in the injection solution reduces additional health hazards from contaminated substances (extenders) as well as disease transmission from contaminated blood.
Our product categories thereby include everything necessary to protect the health of the drug user.
Inclusion in the labor market
COMPET MEDICAL AG takes the value of social responsibility seriously and we actively demonstrate this. Certified disability facilities take over the packaging of FLASH®™ and customized prevention sets.

Milestones
Klaus Schilling, a graduate engineer founded COMPET MEDICAL AG in 1989, with headquarters in Switzerland and a branch office in Germany / Konstanz.
In cooperation with the BAG (Federal Office of Public Health / Switzerland) and Aidshilfe Schweiz, the FLASH®™ prevention set was developed and launched on the market.
In 1992, COMPET MEDICAL AG succeeded in developing a special harm reduction filter (filter fabric) and producing the SyriFILT®™ cost-effectively
1st generation of the aluminum spoon is sold: The former “table spoon” is replaced by a sterile aluminum spoon.
Euroset, the later SyriSET®™ STANDARD, is launched. Four combinations have been available since then.
Since 2000, many customized packaged prevention kits followed.
Another in-house development, the SyriFILT®™ PIC becomes part of the offering. The filter has a filter disc made of a synthetic chemical fiber based on polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and largely eliminates impurities from an injection solution. Laboratory tests have shown that against 93% of all particles above 10 mue remain suspended in the filter.
In 2008, the cooperation with certified workshops for the disabled began. The workshops for disabled take over the packaging of the FLASH®™ and customer-specific kits.
COMPET MEDICAL AG’s own products have been protected by registration with the IGE (Institute of Intellectual Property) / Bern since 2012.
The SyriSPOON®™ stainless steel spoon, flattened for better stability and with a longer handle, has always been offered in sterile packaging.
The range of syringes was expanded to include safety syringes. In addition, the development of prefilled syringes began.
Three new filter types were launched.
